You might have heard the name Bench Mob from last year’s Chicago Bulls team, but Brooklyn Nets backup center Andray Blatche says he invented it while with Washington and says he brought it with him to the Nets.
“That came from me … I started it. I’m the Godfather of it. It’s me. Ain’t no C.J. Watson with the Chicago Bulls. It’s me,” Blatche told Mike Mazzeo of ESPNNewYork.com.
“He didn’t bring that from Chicago,” Blatche said of backup point guard C.J. Watson, who was with the Bulls last season. “Don’t you dare say that came from Chicago. It came from me in D.C. with the other team I was with.”
“He gonna have to, he’s gonna have to get adjusted, cause he with the Bench Mob,” Blatche said. “If you ain’t starting, you with the Bench Mob.”
So I guess it’s Bench Mob now. Bench Mob has done a fine job so far this season, at some points being legitimate game changers. They currently rank 15th in the NBA with 33.6 points per game and 10th with a 45 shooting percentage. MarShon Brooks leads that group with 10.3 points per game, Watson is at 8.6, Jerry Stackhouse at 8.0, Blatche is at 6.4, and Reggie Evans is at 3.2.
