Last season, Andray Blatche was one of the worst players in the NBA on one of the worst teams in the NBA in the Washington Wizards. He was booed every single time he touched the ball even on his home court. So the Wizards exercised their amnesty clause to get rid of him. Now he’s with the Brooklyn Nets, a different team with a different atmosphere and he’s doing well coming off the bench for them.
But Blatche is going to Blatche and that means he’s going to stick his foot in his mouth.
Rather than be the better man and realize that his team literally paid him millions of dollars to not play for them, he took the opportunity to ask reporters yesterday, including John Schuhmann of NBA.com, “Anbody seen how the Wizards are doing?”
Too bad he doesn’t realize that at least part of the reason the Wizards are 0-12 to start this season is because he was a disappointment and didn’t live up to his contract. It also isn’t helping them that they have to pay him money while he’s playing for the Brooklyn Nets.
Luckily for Nets fans, he has not been a total distraction to his current team and has been playing some solid minutes backing up Brook Lopez. He is actually on pace to set career highs in points (18.8) and rebounds (10.7) per 36 minutes. Maybe if he did more of that with the Wizards they wouldn’t be 0-12 right now.
